Creative Bulletin n.247

According to the guidelines, we had to keep things under wraps until October 31, but now we can finally share it: BAD Canvas has been selected by the ADI Design Index as one of the best examples of Italian design. This means it’s now eligible for further consideration for the Compasso d’Oro, the world’s most prestigious design award 💪

My heart is truly warmed. A few days ago, I asked if anyone would write a review of The Creative Ambush on Goodreads, and I’d like to take this chance to thank everyone who found the time to do so. The reviews are heartfelt and have truly lifted me. Thank you so much. You can read them here >> https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/221186669-the-creative-ambush

A continuous creative exercise. Something I’ve been doing for years now—and that I suggest you try—is to change perspectives, and consequently, your life for certain periods: sometimes I live as a writer (making writing the top priority above everything else), other times I live as an entrepreneur, or as an advertiser, or even as a designer.

These phases might be as short as parts of the day—mornings dedicated to one thing, afternoons and evenings to another—or they can span longer periods, even weeks or months.

This habit allows me to challenge my beliefs: "I want to be a writer!", "I want a successful company!", and so on. Is that really what I want? I ask myself this over and over, or is it merely an idealized notion, or worse, just an obsession?

🌈 Creative Takeaway: Prune Your Dead Branches

When do I feel my best? When do I have the most energy? I reflect on this at the end of each day. I want to be an entrepreneur, but after an afternoon of calls and emails, I feel completely drained. Maybe something isn’t quite right... I want to be a writer, but what I dreamed of writing ten years ago no longer brings me joy; in fact, I feel bored. Maybe it’s time to write something new…
I shift my perspective, immersing myself in what I think are my desires, testing them constantly. Do I still want that? Do I still want it in the same way? If the answer is no, I prune the dead branch and focus on where there’s life.
It’s not easy, but if you think about it, is there really any other way to grow into a thriving plant? 😉

With ❤️,
Matteo
