Creative Bulletin n.259

Here’s one of the posts I’ve been sharing on IG as part of my attempt to capture the creative life.

I’ve been doing this every day for over 100 days, and then, out of nowhere, this one went viral—over 600,000 views in the Italian version! 🌈

The Time It Takes to Find Your Voice
I set myself the goal of posting for at least three months—not so much for the sake of discipline, but to give myself the time to experiment and figure out how I wanted to share what I feel is worth sharing.

I kept trying different things until one day, a thought came to me in the form of a dialogue. Just for fun, I sketched two little stick figures beside it. I made a couple more like that, and, incredibly, those were the posts that people started sharing the most. Turns out, the format I liked best was also the one that resonated most with others.

It takes time to find your voice—whether you’re writing a novel, painting, or pursuing any creative work. We have to give ourselves the freedom to play, to experiment endlessly, to shift perspectives again and again, and to embrace mistakes as part of the process. Most importantly, we need to step out of the world of ideas and take action as soon as possible.

🌈 Creative Takeaway: Owning Your Reality

This past week has been chaotic—our ad performance dropped, and Lino and I found ourselves on edge, exchanging anxious phone calls (ugh 😅)
I realized that every morning I started with stress, I ended up wasting the day, barely getting anything done, as if I were bracing for disaster. By the evening, nothing catastrophic had actually happened—but I had accomplished absolutely nothing.
Worry lives entirely in our heads (kind of like hypochondria), and it can seriously undermine creative work.
When this happens, we need to reclaim control of reality—the here and now. Remind ourselves that, in this moment, everything is fine. And if, at some point, disaster strikes, we’ll deal with it then.
Otherwise, if we sit around doing nothing every day, we end up creating the disaster ourselves 😂

With ❤️,
Matteo
