Creative Bulletin n.287

At sunset here in Porto, it feels like being inside a Turner painting.

These days I’m completely dedicated to the new creativity handbook and the e-learning platform. One of the programmers we collaborate with will be working part-time on the project, so Sefirot School will be coming very soon 🎉

Rediscovering one’s energy. Being in another city, where you don’t know anyone, is very challenging: there are no friends to call, every place is new, you start again from scratch.

Let’s be honest: it’s uncomfortable, a sharp break from the comfort zone. And to stay in it you need to tap into an energy that, out of laziness or forgetfulness, you don’t usually exercise in your daily life.

Not wanting to work at home all day, I’ve been checking out coworking spaces; not wanting to cook, I’ve often been going out to discover what Porto has to offer; not wanting to watch a movie on Friday night, I went out for a drink by myself, hoping to strike up a conversation with someone.

It’s exciting and at the same time a little funny. Why, I wonder, don’t I look for a coworking space in Turin, even though working from home often weighs on me? Why don’t I eat out more often when I don’t feel like cooking? Last night an old tavern keeper convinced me to try something called “feijoada transmontana” – I won’t tell you how many herbal teas I had to drink to digest it 😅 In Turin I would never have dared order such a daunting dish, I’d have stuck to the safe, familiar things I know.

🌈 Creative takeaway: we’re always a work in progress

Despite the digestive struggle, I’m heartened by this rediscovered energy. It means that daily life doesn’t always have to look the same, that we have the strength to let our reality evolve at any moment, that nothing is set in stone as it is right now.
When I return to Turin, I want to try living a few days as if I didn’t know anyone, going out to explore what the city has to offer me, as if I’d just arrived, pretending I don’t have the habits I’ve built over all these years.
We can create our own adventure anywhere, at any time.
And you—will you give it a try? 😅

With ❤️,
Matteo
