Creative Bulletin n.75

An ex colleague of Matteo sent him this pic; he took it in the independent library next to his house. That same day, Estel, our new associate, met her new roommates and she found out that they used intùiti.
Yep, it is definitely a great feeling: we’re starting to pop up everywhere 😜

🐐🐐🐐 What we’ve been up to this week

  • Andrea moved the warehouse (yes, again 😂 we hope it’s for the last time for some years)
  • We received a couple of «No» from literary agents who are not interested in selling abroad the rights for our products (ouch, it always hurts)
  • We ordered new productions for everything – Fabula, intùiti, Cicero. Because of covid, manufacturing times have tripled so we thought it was a good idea to go big 🎉

🐈🐈🐈 How we work: we disconnect in the morning

Have you ever heard of Communication Overhead? It’s the time that a team spends talking to each other instead of doing what they are supposed to do. Statistically, when a work group exceeds 8 members, that’s when we reach our limit (at that point, 80% of our work becomes talking to other team members). We weren’t quite there yet, but almost: mail, whatsapp and phone calls were not allowing us to focus.

Solution. We decided to cut our work day in half: in the morning we turn our phones off, we switch to airplane mode and we focus on the creative side of our job (to develop new products) which, generally, requires a higher focus; in the afternoon, we join the world again and we answer all of the requests we got in the meantime (we found out that, if handled one after the other, as a list, they are not even that bad!).
Let’s see if we can make it a habit 😂

🦊🦊🦊  What we’ve learned

We had lunch together on Sunday in Turin and after that we fell into a rough patch made of despair ( Matteo had a full on anxiety attack 😅). We felt lost, we didn’t know how we could expand and tear down those invisible walls that always seem to be in the way.

🌈 Takeaway: if you don’t want to expand, focus
Who said we need to expand more? The world is running and it leaves us with the feeling that, if we don’t run just as fast, we’ll be left behind; and when we don’t know how to run and where to run anymore, we get that crippling feeling of exhaustion. But how can we recharge, get back some energy and compact the foundations of the sand castle we built? The answer, for us, is to stop thinking about numbers and focus on creating new products 😂 and what about you? What’s your answer?

With ❤️,
Matteo and Andrea from Sefirot

🪄🪄🪄 Tips for using Cicero

Did you know that we use Cicero to write our product’s landing pages? A landing page is the web page where you first  “land”, where you can read what a product or service is, how it works, etc. If you think about it, it’s just like giving a speech!

📕📕📕 Reading tips

Animal Farm and 1984 by George Orwell. We’ve all heard about them, but not everyone has read the whole thing. Let’s do it, let’s suggest them to others: if we would really know these books we would not vote a certain type of politician 🐽
