Creative Bulletin n.253
Exactly: we’ve completed the preliminary development of Fabula for non-fiction, the tool for writing manuals, theses, guides, and articles.
It’s been quite a challenge because the process of writing non-fiction is far more creative and complex than that of fiction (novels). Just think of the endless possibilities—from self-help manuals to newspaper articles. In any case, we made it, and… it works 😊
The wrong goal. I had a long conversation with a friend of mine on Friday night about his attempt to reach 30,000 followers on Instagram. When I asked him why he wanted to hit that target, he explained that it would help him find a gallery to showcase his artwork.
I talk about this dynamic in The Creative Ambush too: we fixate on achieving the “wrong” goal, convincing ourselves that it will help us reach our true objective. My friend risks pouring a lot of energy into making viral videos on Instagram instead of presenting his work directly to galleries.
It’s better to focus on what we really want to do. Our goal is to develop products that support creativity, and we’ve started communicating on Instagram to sell them—not to gather followers in the hope of selling later.
👉 Do you want to achieve A? Communicate in a way that aims to achieve exactly that. Don’t exhaust yourself chasing B, believing that through B, A will be easier to reach. It won’t be. Authenticity is everything!
🌈 Creative Takeaway: when we are aligned with ourselves, things always fall into place
A dear friend of mine shares valuable investment advice because he wants to offer online consulting. He doesn’t care whether he has more or fewer followers; what matters to him is having a full schedule. And wouldn’t you know it—he’s just hit 50,000 followers. He didn’t have to do anything other than be himself.
Let’s strive to be aligned, to say our true goal out loud, and to pursue that and nothing else. You’ll see—it will all work out for the best 😘
With ❤️,
Matteo
