Creative Bulletin n.289

In the photo, the view I had for a month from the terrace of my apartment in Porto: it’s what I’ll take home with me, in my heart ❤️Some of you will be reading this bulletin while I’m already flying toward Turin.

Goodbye, Porto! Thank you for everything.

Where the mind just can’t reach. Today I visited an apartment as a possible long-term rental, then I came back home and started thinking… (big mistake 😅 ) My mind went wild: is it really a good idea to move? And what about the company—how would I manage that? Is this a clever move? At this point, wouldn’t it make more sense to just head to the Algarve? I even started looking at apartments there. But then… does it really make sense?

That question in particular paralyzed me—I kept repeating it over and over: “Does it make sense?”

And I realized there are so many possibilities, so many implications, that what actually doesn’t make sense is trying to think about it. The mind just can’t hold all of that at once or process it.

I think the same thing happens when we’re working on a creative project. Should I change the title? The tone? The color? The meaning? The business model? The positioning? Everything’s possible, and this vast, infinite choosing can’t be tackled just by thinking.

🌈 Creative takeaway: the meaning of living is wanting to live, the meaning of creating is wanting to create

The only way forward is to take a step—an actual one—even a clumsy one. To pick a path and see where it goes, simply for the joy of seeing where it leads. Say a first yes to the apartment, and then find out whether it makes you happy or makes you sick. Choose the title of a book and keep writing.
The only way forward is to follow a creative direction, or to live an experience, even if we don’t know whether it’s the right one. Did it make sense to come to Porto? Yes, because I came to Porto: it fed my fire. I can’t explain how, and I don’t think it matters.
All I know is that it’s always worth raising the energy at play, like an engine under stress, and discovering whether we’ll break down or roar magnificently. And, if needed, to have the courage to break, and to rebuild, to change our minds and go back—and in doing so, find what was right for us.

With ❤️,
Matteo
