Creative Bulletin n.295

These days, I’ve been rereading the first draft of my new creativity manual, and I’m still not satisfied.
I realized I wrote the entire first half trying to teach what I thought potential readers would want to learn.
But from the second half onward, something shifted—I tapped into a different kind of energy and started writing from a more personal place, the way I really move through creativity at home, when I write or design.
And that part? It’s a whole different story: the book takes flight.
For example, hardly anyone knows how I write my newsletters. I used to list the main events of the week and try to draw some conclusions, but after a while that approach just bored me.
Now, I draw two intùiti cards—one for the central theme and one for the takeaway—and I start from there. I go deep until something clicks, something resonates and inspires me.
These days, every time I sit down to write the newsletter, I have no idea what’s going to come out. And I love discovering it as it unfolds.
Does that sound hard? The truth is, I wouldn’t know how to do it any other way.
🌈 Creative takeaway: It’s harder to pretend to be someone else than to just be yourself.
It took me six months to write the first half of the new manual and one month to write the second half. Sometimes we’re tempted to believe that if we were different, we’d function better. The thing is, we’re not different, so it just becomes exhausting 😅
Might as well be ourselves, as soon as possible.
With ❤️,
Matteo
