I think I’ve just found the title for my new book 😅

With The Creative Ambush, I wanted to shake things up. This time, I’m trying to offer something different: a full set of tools to help you imagine, build, and actually sustain your creative life.

Writing process and life process. I wrapped up the first draft last week, and now I’m deep into rewriting it from top to bottom. It’s not like writing a how-to guide on something specific like painting or design. This is much broader, and honestly, figuring out how to teach how to lead a creative life has been trickier than I expected.

It made me ask myself: How did I build mine?
That question really challenged me. I realized it wasn’t just about motivation, willpower, coming up with ideas, intuition, or discipline.

On Sunday, during a workshop I was leading, I got a little carried away and started sharing all kinds of creative business models with the group. And in that moment, I thought, “There it is. That’s when it started. When you figured out how to actually make a living from it, when you had proof it could work”.

🌈 Creative takeaway: find the role or the setup that makes you want to show up

Last week, one of our new strategies finally started showing signs of life, and the burst of energy that hit us? Unreal. I suddenly wanted to work at night again, to brainstorm, to make stuff. Not for money, not for recognition, but because Lino and I were on the phone like two kids yelling, “This is awesome. It’s working! It’s actually working!”

That’s when it hit me. I’ve been able to build, and more importantly maintain, my creative life because I’ve always found a way to keep the energy and desire alive.

There’s nothing more important than figuring out the role or the condition that keeps your fire going, whether it’s a challenging gig, an adventure with friends, a house by the sea, or a solid hourly rate.
