Creative Bulletin n.323

Work in progress at the Turin Book Fair. Today we’re setting everything up with the products ❤️

Meanwhile, if anyone wants to come by and say hi, you’ll find us at stand N74, Hall 3!

The halfway point. By now, May has become the real dividing line of the year for the company. A bit like September back in school days. There’s the before-Book-Fair phase and the after-Book-Fair phase.

Every May, I find myself reflecting on what we’ve done, what we want to do, and who we were in previous years.

The first year, what mattered was simply showing up and being there. The second year, it was having more products. The third year, it was doing something new (so we brought a foosball table 😅). The fourth year, it was important not to go at all, because I wanted to see whether anyone would notice the difference (they really didn’t care). The fifth year, what mattered was having The Creative Ambush and selling loads of copies.

This year, though, it feels like all the things I thought were important in previous years (and that stressed me out so much) maybe weren’t that important after all. This year, what really matters is not running ourselves into the ground over pointless goals, and instead enjoying five good days together.

🌈 Creative takeaway: we’re an unpredictable work in progress

Six years ago, I dreamed we’d keep growing and growing until we had a 100-square-metre stand.
Today, I’m happier about the kind of growth that happened in other ways. And I’m genuinely curious to find out what will matter to me next year.

With love,
Matteo
